About
My name is Ross Fattori and I operate a marketing company called ROSSWORDS Advertising, Consulting and Publishing. I started this blog in September, 2007.Â
When I first launched the Marketing and New Media Blog, my goal was to discuss marketing and business trends, with an emphasis on new media. I wanted to write about how newspapers, magazines and social networking programs (Facebook, YouTube and Twitter) are impacting how we communicate and share information.Â
At first, I began posting articles once a week or whenever I had the time. Over several months, my postings became more frequent, until I was writing three to four articles per week. While posting regular articles, I am often reminded of the Chinese proverb: “I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I write and I understand.”Â
I started using a free blogging flatform, Wordpress.com, which provides quick set-up and easy-to-use customizing features. All of the backend, technical functions are handled by the capable Wordpress team.Â
In April 2009, however, I moved to WordPress.org, a blog publishing platform that requires users to host their own site. The chief advantage of a self-hosted blog is that it allows users greater control over the site’s design and content. My blog is hosted at GoDaddy, a company that I highly recommend (it offers friendly, around-the-clock technical support).Â
The transformation to a self-hosting service was tricky. The learning curve has been gradual and, at times, frustrating. I still haven’t completely mastered it. Let’s call it a work-in-progress…the online forums have been a Godsend.Â
This blog does not attempt to be all things to all people. If you’re looking for the latest gossip on Kanye West or Jessica Simpson, you’ve come to the wrong place. If you want hot stock market tips, hockey scores or medical advice, this is not the blog for you.
Occasionally, I’ll write about topics that are loosely connected to my themes and for which I feel a strong affinity. That’s the beauty of writing a blog; you can choose your own topics, writing style, article length, without editors hanging over your shoulder, saying, “This piece needs to be shorter….”Â
I try to include a healthy mixture of content: industry news, marketing tips, case studies, commentary, interviews, guest posts, and more.
If you are interested in writing a guest post, please email me a short query and I’ll consider your request. If you have industry news that you feel would be of interest to my readers, I encourage you to send it along.Â
Lastly, this blog reflects my personal views and observations and does not necessarily reflect the views of my clients.
